Rookie advice

Recommended Posts

Hello chaps

So i have my meade lx200 10 inch outside and 2 inch diagonal inserted, a 40mm lens and make the two star alignment

Once the scope is aligned i slew to Jupiter, almost perfect centre.

Once I take out the eyepiece and place my canon d550 ( 2 inch adaptor ) I loose Jupiter and takes ages to find in the live screen of the camera.

When i attached a televue x4 powermate then it takes forever to find

A 40mm eyepiece is quite low in magnification and may not provide you with the degree of accuracy you need for star aligning (you did comment that Jupiter was not prefectly centred in the eyepiece). If you use a higher magnification eyepiece your alignment will improve and Jupiter may not fall outside the FOV of the camera + powermate.
