HEQ5 pro Syntrek

Hi,

The blurb says that the above mount is already equipped with the main board and the stepper motors of the HEQ5 pro Synscan- go to. I already have an AZ synscan go to mount for my 127 MAK, Could the handset be used to upgrade the syntrek to synscan go to? This could be saving of about £150.00. I see no other difference in specs and I think the handset with the latest firmware update is usable for both AZ and EQ mounts.

I believe that to be correct. I bought a Synscan handset from a EQ6 owner, flashed the firmware and use it with a 300p DOB which is an AZ mount. Had it already had the latest firmware, it would have worked with both EQ and AZ mounts.

To quote Skywatcher on v3.34:

"This firmware works with all the Sky-Watcher AZ goto mounts and DOB SynScan Mounts and also works and compatible with EQ goto mounts."

The latest firmware works with both Eq and Az mounts. All you will need to do is buy a cat5 network cable for the Syntrek mount.
