Hello and welcome to SGL,

Bins are a great way to start and learn the sky as well as providing wonderful wide field views particularly of the mikly way and clusters.

As with the rest of the advise already given, it depends upon budget but for cheaper bins 7 x 50, 10 x 50 or 15 x 70 are ideal.

the 15 x 70 will be a struggle to hold steady for long without aid unless you're He-man?

Hello and welcome to SGL. Have a look around, I know FLO and Telescope House do some very respectable bins for the budget conscious. I bought a pair of Meade 10x50's from Telescope House and for the price (£30) I cant knock them at all. Bak 4 prisms for £30 well cant say better than that.

Paul.
