AZ4 Pier Extension

Hi all,

I seem to recall reading that the tripod for the AZ4 is the same as the one used on the HEQ5 and that the fitting for the mount head is the same. Being a bit on the lanky side I'm looking to raise the height of my scope and wondered if the Orion pier extension for the HEQ5 would work with the AZ4?

Any feedback is greatly appreciated.

That's what I use on my AZ4 one of the best bits of astro kit I ever bought. They are available at the Widescreen Centre for around 90 quid.

That's the setup I am trying to create for a grab and go visual. Is that a 100mm scope?

A few seem to use the extension but £90 seems a bit steep. Saying that if it good then may be worth it.

The scope on board is a Skywatcher Evostar ED100 DS Pro, a fl 9, 4 inch refractor.

I bought the extension pillar a few years ago to use with my SkyTee mount. This is the same tripod and fitting as the AZ4.

I attach a photo showing how useful it can be with a large frac - this is a 6" Meade f8. Although its a bit expensive I never regretted buying mine.
