Any Ideas for Cheap Power Supply?

I'd like to build a simple box to go with my mount that houses all the data and power connectors (I've seen quite mightly impressive examples on here already) so that I only need to connect 1 power lead and 1 USB lead. Since I image outside on the patio, I'd like to have the flexibility of only disconnecting 2 cables if I need to take the mount indoors in a hurry i.e. rain.

I'm pretty much there with the USB as all my cables go into 1 hub and I just have 1 cable going back to the laptop. But for power, things are a little different and are likely to change with some upgrades I'm considering.

Right now I power my mount from one of these http://www.maplin.co...er-supply-42702 connected to an extension lead.

My aim is to build a box that has enough power for the mount, DSLR camera, mirror fan and dew heaters for main scope and guiding scope. From reading various specs, i think I would need at least 7 or 8 amps @ 12V based on the following:

Mount: 2 amps @ 12V

Fan: 1 amp @ 12V

DSLR: 2 amp @ 12V

Dew heaters: ???

Any pointers on building/sourcing a cheap power supply would be greatly appreciated!

I think I might go for one of these: http://www.maplin.co...power-units-231 and run 12V up to the distribution box at the mount. I don't think there's anything cheaper!

I could then simply wire up some connectors for the different devices inside the box. I'll need some electronics if I want to get power to the camera as it's an awkward 7.4V.

Check out the duty cycle, the 3amp is really only a 2amp, same applies for there 5amp and 7amp these figures are for 50% cycle times.....

I used a cheap ebay battery as discussed herehttp://stargazerslou...rnal-power-help and then picked up an 8v regulator from Bitsbox and wired it as shown in the data sheet, I think it was just a couple of capacitors. This was then powered from the 12v supply.

Thanks Jason. I had a look on the Bitsbox website but couldn't find an 8V regulator, could you point me in the right direction?
