Imaging Jupiter ED80, HEQ5, Canon 1100d

Hi all. My first night capturing images last night ready to learn things like Registax and DSS.

Had fairly good success with the moon and M42. Now I appreciate its not the set up for planets, and although I have had moderate success with my 200P and Xbox can with Jupiter, I couldn't seem to image anything of Jupiter on my DSLR other than a tiny white dot or a 5mm diameter grey one in the live view.

I played with various ISO and exposure settings but no luck. Can any results be had with this kit ( and how/settings!) or shall I stick to more 200P and webcam trials with Jupiter?!

I assume your doing this at prime focus, are you using a barlow? Suspect you need to achieve a higher F/Ratio to get any sort of decent image scale on your SLR's sensor.

I'm no expert though!

Got the cam attached straight on to focus tube at the back so no Barlow ( which I do use when using 200P). Thanks for replying though :-)
