Eq3-2 mount / pier

Evening all,

I seem to remember reading somewhere that the eq3-2 has the same footprint as the eq5 and heq5. But now I can't find what I read, or i've just made it up! Can anyone confirm if that's right? I'm looking at a making/buying a pier to hold my current eq3-2 mount, but I'm also keeping one eye on future use if I was to upgrade the mount. I see piers available for eq5/heq5 so i assume these are the same fit, just really after knowing if the eq3-2 would fit this.

The EQ3-2 certainly fits on the same 1.75" steel pipe tripod as the AZ4/EQ5/HEQ5, so I would assume it would fit an EQ5/HEQ5 pier.

thanks Rik, that is what I was hoping to hear. Now i just need to work out whether I'm making or buying.

If you make your own (or get the bits welded by a steel fabricator) you have the advantage of being able to customise your pier to your own exact requirements. Commercial piers tend to be "one size fits all" for obvious production reasons.
