Electronic Sky?

Hi all,

I am hoping if there is anyone out there who can recommend a tidy astronomy app for the I pad,

I have to admit here that I am well out of my depth relating to all things “app” related.

My young nephew who is probably far, far better equipped than I, has asked if I could

recommend one to him... he is after something I suppose a bit like a Planisphere

but one where you hold it up above you and on the screen it labels the sky above your head.

can anyone help please?

I use Google Sky Map on my Android, there is one for the IPAD called Sky Maps.

I use Sky Safari, there are three versions that range in price from £1.99 up to £27.99, the cheap one does me fine.

Of the apps I have used (both paid for and free) I have found this to be the best.

That said, I'm on Android so you probably have more options available to you on Apple products.

I can recommend StarmapPro, I use the £11.99 version, but it also comes in free and £3.99 versions. It works on iPhone and iPad, and may be available on Android iirc.

Google sky maps on android for me. I had obey on my old iphone i had one i paid for i forget its name it wasn't best. But Google skymaps seems fairly accurate.

Sky safari is the best but it doesn't always work for me and so 99%of the time I go to star walk iv got the £28 of sky safari too
