Focuser upgrade

Im not a fan of the standard focuser on my 200p dob, I find it's not great for fine focusing.

Just wondered if a dual speed moonlite crayford is overkill for visual use on a dob?

Have you considered a kit to convert it to dual speed? Certainly cheaper than a whole new focuser.

I had a 200p and then a 300p and have replaced the focuser with a moonline dual speed one.not overkill at all as i will transfer it to my next scope and then the one after that so consider it a long term investment

Spec-chum I didn't realise there was a kit to convert it to dual speed, where can you get it from?

crashtest I had thought about it as an investment for future scopes as well as my current one but wondered if I was being daft putting an expensive focuser on a visual setup but I guess if I'm going to upgrade it may as well be a good upgrade

The precision and build quality is so far above the original focuser plus it holds your eyepieces and collimation gear dead centre.definately worth the money

I replaced the stock rack and pinion on mine with a GSO two speed crayford. Not very expensive and loads better performance.
