Skywatcher Heritage 76 Mini Dobsonian

Recommended Posts

Hi guys

Was thinking of getting this for my 8 year old son as a first scope.

but would he be able to use it on his window ledge through the glass. i know it's not the best idea as you should be outside but i would like him to use it in the bedroom from time to time.

Personally i think this scope is a bit of a "toy" for an 8 yr old. You would be better off buying a Skywatcher Heritage 130P. Its a small and compact scope which is pretty powerful and really a good scope for kids and adults alike.

I have even used it from inside my houser observing through double glazed windows and it still works great on anything but planets. To get the best out of planets, you really need to be outside in the fresh air..................and the Heritage does that.

I bought four of these for the grand kids last year...

I was still trying to explain how a telescope worked, when they had it unpacked, out on the patio table and viewing the moon!!!

They LOVED it!

Later they saw Jupiter and it's moon's - all with no help from me..I just sat there with a glass of Shiraz - and smiled!

(I should say boys and girls from 8 to 13 )

I stand corrected.

The above review needs nothing added.
