Orion's belt lit up!

Recommended Posts

Got up this morning and went out side to have a quick look, the sky was clear after the thick clouds and downpours last night. Venus was extremely bright and Mars shining like a ruby in the horns of Taurus.

Out of the corner of my eye I caught a flash parallel to Orion's belt, about 1/2 a degree above it. There was an trail almost the same length as the belt, lasted about 10 seconds before fading.

The time was 6.30 AM CET, and as the sky was brightening rapidly I decided not to get the scope out. Maybe tomorrow I will try and get out earlier and get my first views for this season of the winter constellations, Mars and Venus.
