  1. This is the second object from last night (Leo Triplet), although I managed to get an hours worth of subs the resulting image didn't come out as I expected (I'll have to revisit this one). Object Leo Triplet M65, M66, NGC3628 Subs 12x300sec @ iso 800 Image scope LXD55 SN10 on an EQ-6 Pro Guide scope ED80-Pro and QHY5 cam Camera Canon 350d + Neodymium LP filter Stacked with Maxim dl Proc with PS CS2 and Noel's actions (click to enlarge)
  2. Considering the clarity of the sky last night I'm more than a little disappointed with what I managed to image (I blaming the moon), anyway here's the first of the two objects earmarked for imaging last night, ic434 the horsehead neb, only got 3 subs of this before it disappeared behind a house. Object ic434 Horsehead Nebula Subs 3x600sec @ iso 400 Image scope LXD55 SN10 on an EQ-6 Pro Guide scope ED80-Pro and QHY5 cam Camera Canon 350d + Neodymium LP filter Stacked with Maxim dl Proc with PS CS2 and Noel's actions (click to enlarge)
  3. The Moon and wind spoilt what was going to be a full night on this object apart from that the temperature was a comfortable 5C with no dampness in the air. Shame really but I'll come back to this one and get some Ha subs to go with it. .....Brian..... Object M1, Crab Nebula, Mag 8.20 Subs 12x300sec @ iso 400, 4x600 @ iso 400 Image scope LXD55 SN10 on an EQ-6 Pro Guide scope ED80-Pro and QHY5 cam Camera Canon 350d + Neodymium LP filter Stacked with Maxim dl Proc with PS CS2 and Noel's actions (click to enlarge)
  4. There's a vast improvement CW because of the LP where I am, its been a godsend. The temp got down to 0C SR......very crisp lol Thanks for all the comments folks they're much appreciated. .....Brian.....
  5. Too much moon around to do anything other than this object, still quite satisfying though seeing as I haven't been able to get out for what seems like an age. I'll be more than happy when all this rain b**gers off. .....Brian..... Object M3 in Canes Venatici mag 6.4 Subs 12x300sec @ iso 400 Image scope LXD55 SN10 on an EQ-6 Pro Guide scope ED80-Pro and QHY5 cam Camera Canon 350d + Neodymium LP filter Stacked with Maxim dl Proc with PS CS2 and Noel's actions (click to enlarge)
  6. Here's the re-processed image with synthesised green from red and blue using noel's actions. .....Brian..... (click to enlarge)
  7. The raw's do look blue, I'll have another go at processing it an see if I can't correct it. Thanks for all the comments. .....Brian.....
  8. Thanks for the feedback, there's something satisfying about imaging globs I never tire of them. .....Brian.....
  9. The SN10 has a focal length 1016mm @ f/4 so quite fast. Thanks for the comments folks. .....Brian.....
  10. Here's the last object from last night, looks a bit too blue to me maybe needs more subs. .....Brian..... Object, M51 Whirlpool Galaxy Subs, 15x300 @ iso 800, 3x300sec @ iso 1600, Luminance, 2x360sec @ iso 1600 Image scope LXD55 SN10 on an EQ-6 Pro Guide scope ED80-Pro and QHY5 cam Camera Canon 350d + Neodymium LP filter Stacked with Maxim dl Proc with PS CS2 and Noel's actions (click to enlarge)
  11. Couldn't resist having a go at this one just before dawn this morning. First glob of the year for me. .....Brian..... Object, M13 Great cluster in Hercules mag 5.9 Subs, 10x90sec @ iso 1600 Image scope LXD55 SN10 on an EQ-6 Pro Guide scope ED80-Pro and QHY5 cam Camera Canon 350d + Neodymium LP filter Stacked with Maxim dl Proc with PS CS2 and Noel's actions (click to enlarge)
  12. This morning cleared up nicely here at round 1 ish the temperature was a very bearable 4C with no noticeable dampness in the air, unfortunately I was too late to image the horsehead which was to be the target so I turned the scope round 180 degs and went for M108. I was 20 minutes into this dso and surfing the net to see what M108 should look like when I stumbled across this site http://icehome.in.cnr.it/icefalls/Astro.htm , (A very interesting site for me and anyone using a Canon dslr for imaging) I noticed he had got M108 and M97 in the same frame so I duly Stopped what I was doing and went owl hunting. It took but a couple of minutes to get both into the frame and here's the result of just 1 hour's worth of subs. .....Brian..... Object, M108, M97 owl neb Subs, 12x300sec @ iso 1600 Image scope LXD55 SN10 on an EQ-6 Pro Guide scope ED80-Pro and QHY5 cam Camera Canon 350d + Neodymium LP filter Stacked with Maxim dl Proc with PS CS2 and Noel's actions (click to enlarge)
  13. After all the hype about Saturday night going to be clear it turned out to be quite a disappointment. I spent 3 hours imaging in Ha on ic410 only to find that something had gone completely a**e up because although the subs individually looked ok when it came to stacking them the combined image looked absolutely atrocious so that was 3 hours in the bin. On top of this the clouds kept rolling over and at one point a sharp shower caught me completely off guard (I've never stowed away the equipment so fast). Anyway after what seemed an age of waiting I only managed 15 minutes of subs on M42. A very disappointing night all in all but on the up side the new guide cam (QHY5) performed superbly under PHD (couldn't get it to work properly with maxim, any pointers on this would be gratefully received). I'll write something a bit more in depth about the QHY5 when I get a chance to really put it through its paces..... .....Brian..... subs, 15x60sec @ 1600 Image scope LXD55 SN10 on an EQ-6 Pro Guide scope ED80-Pro and QHY5 cam Camera Canon 350d + Neodymium LP filter Stacked with Maxim dl Proc with PS CS2 and Noel's actions (click to enlarge)
  14. With not being able to get out because of ill health and bad weather I decided to go back to something I did a few weeks ago for something to do and add the RGB data to the Ha data to the bubble neb I captured on the 11th Dec, I'm quite pleased with the result...... .....Brian..... PS... Clear skys to all for 2008 (click to enlarge)
  15. These were took on Sat 22nd Dec but because of illness this is the first chance I've had to post them, I've also got one of ic 434 and will post it shortly. (cough cough) .....Brian..... Tuttle (click to enlarge) NGC 2392 Eskimo nebula (click to enlarge)
