Registax 5 problem.

Hi all,

I recently processed an avi file of the moon on registax 6. I was told to try it on registax 5 as aparrently it tollerates drift more than 6.

I downloaded it and tried to open my avi file(s) but none of them will open. All i get is a message saying; "Failed to start AVI decompression, codec:MJPGvids".

Any ideas? Has this happened to anyone else?

have you used the correct avi codec setting, i think it should be YUY2

How do i check/change that? In registax 6 it was automatically in YUY2.

If you need the avi file in a different format then virtualdub might help. I have to admit that I wasn't aware that v6 would read video data in formats that v5 wouldn't.

That error message seems to suggest that the AVI file was created using the MJPGvids codec, not the YUY2 codec. I guess reg6 can handle that format and reg5 cannot. Use Virtualdub to convert it to a suitable format for reg5.
