New mount - HEQ5 - handset firmware update and general checks?

Hi

I've just picked up an older black HEQ5 with a Synscan upgrade fitted. I didn't get a cable for connecting the handset to the PC but I'd like to update the firmware. I'm going to get a EQDIR USB cable - does anybody know if the handset can be connected to the PC with this cable for an update, or am I going to have to buy a cable just to occasionally update my handset?

I know that I'll be able to leave the handset out of the loop when I have the EQDIR, but i'd still like the option of using the handset.

Also - does anybody have any advice for a synscan goto newbie? Anything I should check the mount for? Any way of checking or calibrating it?

The Eqdir module is a replacement for the handset and is not intended for connecting the handset to a pc. Check out the cables section at FLO (click on the logo at the top of the page) for pc to handset cables.

i would not use anything except the correct cable for this, delicate electronics and flash memory are inside
