Eyes on the Sky: July 30 thru August 5

Recommended Posts

Scorpius is just about on the meridian as it gets dark, which means it is well-placed for viewing early in the evening. Catch several double stars here, along with a couple of globular clusters in the small area of sky near the first magnitude Antares. Of course, you may wish to wait on the globulars until after the Moon revolves a bit further east, but that doesn't mean you should put your scope away! On the contrary, see some of the limb-hugging craters on either side of full which are highlighted by the terminator shadow. Plus, find out what's happening with Mars and Saturn in the evening and where Jupiter and Venus are headed in the morning sky.

Thank you Vega26 and Dan - just trying to spread the word about light pollution reduction via informative (and hopefully entertaining) astronomy videos. :)
