Cloudwatcher
Forgive my ignorance Kain but am I right in assuming the Moondog is to the right in the frame and not the linear feature across the moon. I ask because as I was about to go to bed last night I looked outside and noticed an orange halo around the moon and a brightish diagonal line across the SW quadrant of the moon glow. I took a picture but unfortunately only discovered when pressing the release that I had left it in mirror lock up mode. The result is not very clear but the line seems similar to that in you image although not so bright.CW
Kain
The moondog is on the right of the image at about 3 o clock on a clock face. What you you see is a Luna corona - which is moonlight reflected by tiny particles of ice in the thin clouds which like a prism, splits the light into spectrum's creating the colour.Kain
