Eyes on the Sky: July 9 thru July 15

Recommended Posts

Last week's video spent some time pointing out the nearest planet to our Sun; this week goes the other direction, and details step-by-step how to find the planet Neptune. Starting at bright, first magnitude stars so even those in heavily light polluted areas can locate the right area of sky, the video star hops the viewer from brighter stars to increasingly dimmer ones to spot the far-out world. Visible with binoculars from moderate to low light pollution, a telescope will be required for those with "soupier" skies.

Also, don't miss the celestial traffic jam of Jupiter, Venus, Aldebaran and the Moon later in the week, plus, watch the evening-by-evening faster motion of Mars compared to the slow-moving Saturn.
