Out of interest (and in hope that a Great Comet will appear soon like Hale Bopp), have any of you lot in the Northern Hemisphere seen a comet recently through your scope?

Apparently Comet Tuttle is visible in January at mag +5..not that you would see much!

Anyone have any thoughts on the next Hale Bopp? Its been 10 years, and 14 years is the average?

The last comet I saw was last autumn, Comet Swan I think (?). It'd be nice to have another Hale Bopp type comet - I was living in the south east at the time and buried in my work (saving up for the purchases I've made recently).

The brightest one right now is C/2006 VZ13 (LINEAR) in Virgo.. magnitude 9.0.

Last comet I saw was McNaught back in January.. what a beauty! Sure wish I'd have been able to go down to Australia for that one.

McNaught was probably the 'next Hale Bopp' and I missed it.
