Goto Mount Swap?

hi all,

im picking up a bargain at the weekend its a celestron nexstar goto but with a slitly smaller scope than what i have & i was wondering if there is anyway of putting the goto mechanism on my neq3-2 mount?

i could be wrong but i think they are completely different types of mount.

the celestron is an alt-azimuth, the eq3-2 is an equatorial and would need a totally different set of motors etc.... you can buy the upgrade kit for it though.

i knew they were different mounts but wasnt sure if i could use the goto system on the eq mount just like a dual axis motor,

as ive seen the goto upgrades you can get

but it does make sense what you have said
