Not 100% sure what I'm asking about really but....

Recommended Posts

.. Just so I can dip my (little) toe into the murky waters of astro imaging, I've been thinking about somehow putting my wife's Canon Powershot A610 as I've seen some people's efforts with other Powershots and TBH they're quite impressive considering...

Anyway, I can get an adapter so I can use 58mm size accessories (see here: http://tinyurl.com/382vbv). I'm guessing I'm going to need more than one of these: http://tinyurl.com/33x5qh as the thread sizes are going to be different. Am I right? And if so, what else would I need?

Ta muchly,

Tony..

Cheers gentlemen, this may sound stupid but as the camera has a maximum exposure time of 15 secs, I was concerned that unwanted light might get into one of those universal things but just covering it would do the trick I imagine..

Ah right so your after long exposure afocul photography. I'm sure it's possible but I think it's going to be rather hard.

IMO that method of attachent is only really suitable for Sun / Moon and maybe a bright planet.

For these objects you wouldn't need more than about half a second... stray light isn't usually a problem unless it's the sun - cause it's daylight :D

Ant, I s'pose I would be looking to stretch the exposure time after a while but at first it'd be the Moon and all your faves to start with. I've got a couple of ideas and we'll see what happens. Thanks anyway mate.
