false colour fringing Filters.

If you was going to try one of the two filters below on a ST80 which one.

Sirius Optics have produced this specialised corrective filter

that greatly reduces the false colour fringing of blue-violet light.

This halo effect is most noticeable in relatively low cost

achromatic refractor telescopes.

The MV1 eyepiece filter is a cost effective solution that does not

appreciably change the viewing colour.

The MV1 is a necessary filter for the refractor telescope market.

It both enhances viewing pleasure by reducing the false colour,

but also eases focusing. There is less unfocused light,

which tends to make it easier to find that sweet spot of focus.

The Sirius Minus Violet Eyepiece Filter MV20 is a specialised

corrective filter that greatly reduces the false colour fringing

of blue-violet light.

This halo effect is most noticeable in relatively low cost

achromatic refractor telescopes.

The MV20 incorporates a formula that minimises percieved

colour shift.

Unlike the MV1, the MV20 attenuates the yellow region more

aggressively, while blocking most of the violet/blue region.

Another difference between the MV1 and MV20 is that the

MV20 does not reject the IR region.

I know they're for Baader filters, not Siruis, but it might be worth a look at

The Baader Fringe Killer, is I think the equivalent of the MV1, I guess the Semi APO is like the MV20. I've no idea if the Baader filters have an IR/UV cut filter or not...

For me, I'd be probably using the MV20 to get a more natural view, but you may need an IR filter also.
