Camera advice wanted

I have an LX modded SPC900n which gives good results but small FOV I'm looking to purchase a CCD to increase my options. Im interested in planetary, nebulae and DSO's so what would my best option be to use alongside the SPC900 but give a bigger FOV. I can't decide if the dslr is a better route or if I need a more specialist CCD

Advice please and thankyou

The difficulty here is that you benefit from different things between planetary and DSO's. I'm sure that someone with experience in planetary will be along soon, but as far as I know you need a really fast frame rate for planetary - Often the DMK series camera's are used to good effect.

For DSO's, if you want a bigger field of view a DSLR will give you the best bang for buck, but personally I'd prefer a CCD over a DSLR. Then you'll need to decide on whether you'd want a mono CCD and filter wheel and filters, or a OSC.

Have you also considered the field of view that the different CCD chips will give you when combined with your scope? Have a look http://www.12dstring.me.uk/fov.htm to get an idea of what size chip will please you most with your scope and then you can decide what to get from that point on.

Have you also looked at a cheaper purchase of the book http://www.firstlightoptics.com/books/making-every-photon-count-steve-richards.html it really is a great read and will probably help you in avioding making costly mistakes in AP.
