Comet question.

Quite a few years ago there was a comet that passed us by and was clearly visable to the naked eye, possibly during the day if i remember right? Was it called Halle-Bopp or something?

Question is, how often does this kinda thing happen and is there a website where i can find any information of this kinda thing from? You know, when comets are due to pass by and where to be looking and that kinda info :)

Hale-Bopp (1997) was the last bright one I spotted with the naked eye. The one before that was Hyakutake (1996). Such bright ones are rare. Comets like Garradd currently still going strong are much more common. Quite easy in binoculars and small scopes. Some information can be found here:
