ELAC (east lincolnshire astronomy club) April meeting

Recommended Posts

Here are the details of next weekends meeting.

We will be holding our next meeting at Gibraltar Point Nature Reserve, Skegness on Saturday April 21. Anyone with an interest in the night sky is very welcome to attend. We will be meeting in the visitor centre car park at 8pm. Meetings are free (min £1 car park fee).

The Lyrid meteor shower reaches it’s peak on the 21st with an expected 18 to 90 meteors (shooting stars) per hour on that evening. Also expected on this date is an observable pass over by the ISS (International Space Station). Saturn, Mars and Venus are also very well placed.

All you will need is a pair of binoculars and a sun lounger if possible to view the meteor shower in comfort.

East Lincolnshire Astronomy Club (ELAC) is open to everyone from experienced observers to complete beginners, all are very welcome. We will have several telescopes in use at the meeting and you will be more than welcome to have a look.

If it’s cloudy we will meet at the Vine Hotel, Vine Road, Skegness. For further information please email David elac@gmx.co.uk you can also find us at www.eastmidlandstargazers.co.uk
