metaledkane
Hey all So after 6 months of saving my new skywatcher 250px goto arrives on friday The supplier has told me that the SW power tanks are out of stock so I've decided to go for -5-in-1 Jump Starter with Digital Air Compressor : Jump Starters : Maplin Electronics and a 1A Regulated Car Power Adaptor : Accessory Socket : Maplin ElectronicsBefore I go ahead and buy them, are they the right items to power my scope?ThanksKane
Cornelius Varley
I am not sure why you would need the 1A regulated adaptor. Doesn't the mount require a supply of at least 1A ?. A 12V powertank is capable of powering the mount without an additional adaptor.Peter

Ainsley
Read the reviews on the Maplin site for the 5 in 1 pack. They all say its a terrible product. I have ended up buying a proper 12v mains transformer so I will power mine from the house. I emailed FLO for advice and thats what they use. You need a 12v mains adapter that will deliver 3amps at least and must be well regulated or you will spike the mount.Maplins do this one:http://www.maplin.co.uk/13.8v-regulated-mains-power-units-231This will tie you to the mains supply though, so you will need a ring tongue type cable though Skywatcher EQ3-2, EQ5, HEQ5 & EQ6 series ring tongue http://www.firstlightoptics.com/astronomy-cables-leads-accessories/skytron-power-supply-cable-for-skywatcher-celestron-mounts.html
