Skywatcher Explorer 250px

This post has been prompted by a phone call this morning from jimlenniea telling me how pleased he was with his Skywatcher Skyliner 250px Dobsonian and by the superb images routinely posted by steppenwolf and Yfronto (click on names to view their websites).

Skywatcher's 250px boasts a number of features that together produce bright, detailed views with excellent resolution and contrast:

Parabolic Primary Mirror: All Sky-Watcher f/5 Newtonian Reflectors and Dobsonians feature high-quality parabolic primary mirrors to reduce the spherical aberrations inherent in ‘fast’ focal length reflectors. A parabolized mirror brings all the light rays to the same focal point for sharp, contrasty views.

Ultra-Thin Secondary Mirror Supports: 0.5mm ultra-thin secondary mirror supports reduce diffraction spikes and prevent loss of contrast.

Pyrex Glass: The primary mirror is made from low thermal expansion Pyrex glass for a noticeably shorter cool-down time.

The Skywatcher Explorer 250px is available as an Optical Tube Assembly, mounted on a HEQ5, HEQ5 PRO, EQ6 or EQ6 PRO and of course as a Skyliner Dobsonian.
