Solar Imaging White balance advice

Recommended Posts

i am starting to get into solar photography but am unsure on white balance settings.

should/would i be better off setting up a custom white balance, as i would if shooting wildlife and the likes.

i thought about a custom white balance shot taken of a sheet of paper through the scope. then using the custom WB with my solar shots.

could anyone throw more light on the WB suject and solar photography please. is it worth doing, will it bring out more in my shots ?

I set to sunny as well, but sometimes just extract the red channel image as a monochrome and then re-RGB it and apply a false colour to make it look perdy :) The red channel is often sharper than green or blue or the combined RGB. I tend to take 50 - 80 shots as jpg-L and stack and tweak using Registax.
