Venus & the Pleiades

Recommended Posts

Horribly cold and windy, with clouds materialising everywhere and whipping across the sky at a rapid rate of knots, and high-level wispy rubbish waiting to catch out those who thought the clouds might part.

Not a great start, and not the greatest result either, but still.

My first attempt; 1 second exposure @ ISO1600, shows just how much moisture there was around the ROI. :

About half an hour later, most of the wispy nonsense had thinned (...but not vanished), enabling another try, with some ghostly / ghastly lens flare; 2 seconds @ ISO2000 :

Not what I'd hoped for, conditions-wise, but at least we got to see it, if little else.

That's not bad all things considered.

I could see Venus but not the Pleiades with the eye, even your first pic got more detail than my effort.

Well done in tough conditions.

Cheers folks. :icon_salut: I guess I was luckier with the weather than some.

I'm going to have another go tonight... seems clearer in general so far, despite the growing Moon-glow.

OK, not so great again, but mainly because V & The P are so different in terms of brightness.

Anyway... forgive the cyan tinge in the V & P pic - I had to use the CLS clip filter to combat the LP. The shot of the Moon was incidental. I was there. It was there. I had the camera. :icon_salut:
