Last night at 8.30, the Moon was crystal clear, no rippling, just masses of fine detail.

At x40 I could easily pick out the wall, the fault line being dark with the sun behind it.

At x200, using a Moon filter, tracked in the 8" Orion , I did a rough sketch and spent 1/2 hour just on this area.

At the S. end,the "Stagshorn" mountains showed detail, with a valley. The bright crater Birt and BirtA led onto the fine rille running nearly parallel to the wall.

Thebit and it's wall crater were also bright and clear.

It is worth just spending a little time on one area, once you get your eye in you'll soon see changes over a short period of time. An hour and half later

I had another view and the features were not as defined and some air movements had started, but nice, Nick.
