Saturn - who needs elevation

Just got in from an evenings pleasurable viewing of Saturn with my 12" Dob. Excellent views with a Baader 7mm Ortho and judicous "nudging", really good conditions

The views were made all the more satisfying as the combination of stubby eyepiece & low elevation of Saturn presented the perfect viewing position - I could sit in a plastic garden chair for an hour or so just staring at the view without backache :blob10:

I was up till around midnight. Still a bit low in the sky but looked great.

Banding came in and out of view but no Cassini division.

Should have waited for it to rise a bit higher but I had work in the morning

I have nbeen looking at Saturn for the last two nights. Seeing has been much better than of late, but elevation is still low- just above the rooftops.

Still I have seen banding, Cassini and Titan with both my 6SE and Kson 102 ED.

Mars has been pretty good too- markings and Polar icecap.
