CS5 crop tool

If I register my lum and rgb files and load them into PS 5 and crop the edges before the stretch then paste the lum over the rgb they are no longer registered??? I use the move tool to line up on one star but the rest of them are miles out.

If I dont crop and copy/paste a layer they are lined up perrfectly..

So what is the crop tool doing to the layer?

Any ideas???

Anybody help on this its doing my head in, and i bet its a simple answer!

I would assume the layer is being stretched to match the other layers in size. It would probably be better to only crop the final image when all the layers have been merged.

It looks like that is what is happening, but i dont know why, CS3 doesnt do that... I like to crop the image first to clean up the edges after registration to get a better histogram
