When is the moon out?

Recommended Posts

Sorry for another daft question.

I haven't seen the moon yet and was just wondering when we will start to see it between say 9pm and midnight?

I have a decent iPad app that shows what time each planet appears, but the moon only seems to be available in the day,and I'm desperate to see it.

Danny.

The moon is "new" at the moment so not visible.

It will start appearing in the west evening sky as the sun sets (near to Venus/Jupiter) from the about the 24th/25th and will gradually get higher each evening.

if you download Stellarium you can wind it forward and see this. (its free)

Cheers

Chris

but yes you are correct in the viewing - 7/10 days will show the moon better, but according to stellarium you will still see a very thin waxing crescent on 25th early in the evening.

Well I did not look it up ,so I am thinking new Moon today that give me 29 days till the next one ,So 7/10 day have got to good for 9pm time.
