The Predator has been writing on my Telrad!!!

Recommended Posts

I have no idea how this has occurred but without anything happening to it my Telrad reticule looks like its been drawn across in the langauge of the Predator :)

It doesn't cross the center circle so the Telrad is still very useable but i don't understand how it could have happened. the mark is in LED as well its not like i'm seeing a dark pattern against a lit reticule...

and before everyone jumps in with "its a mark on the lens", i took the battery cover off to check the actual reticule there and sure enough there it is

The only thing i think i might be is the LED burning through the plastic but ive never heard of anyone having that issue.

Anyone seen the like????

IIRC the only issue's I've heard of is if you are using your scope for solar observing with a white light filter and leave the Telrad on as I believe direct sunlight can damage the reticule.

Other than that I wouldn't know, I've had mine for a few years with no issues and I heard of folks having them for 10+ years and still going strong.

Is your Telrad new(ish)? If it's less than a year old it would still be under warranty.

EDIT - I need to learn to type quicker John beat me to it! :):)

They are a reputable retailer so I don't think you will have any problems returning it. :)

Hopefully you won't be unlucky with the replacement as telrads are usually very reliable bits of kit.

I already spoke with Lee at Green Witch and he's helping me out. I've used green witch before and they have always been great. Its just a weird issue.

You'd just think a 7ft hunter-killer reptile from space would have more to do with his time!!!! :)

I had two Telrads over the space of about 11 or 12 years - the diodes on both failed eventually, so I wouldn't say these are more or less reliable than any other piece of electronic kit (less so in my experience).
