I heard it was 13.0, which fits with my look at it yesterday. It seemed to match the mag 12.95 star in the neighbourhood closely. I also spotted 2012au and NGC 4790. Quite surprising, but both companions confirmed a vague grey patch with a mag 13-ish dot in the middle. A mag 13.0 and mag 13.3 pair of stars flickered fitfully in and out of averted vision beside it. Supernova number 5!! (for me that is).

Some good visual reports and pics :) Regarding NGC 4790 I think the nucleus is much fainter than the SN and a 'dual nucleus' is unlikely:)

Although clear and very warm today in SW London [Charlwood next Gatwick recorded 21C !] haze quickly comes in after dusk again but got a brief snap of SN2012aw in M95 below by offsetting from Mars:hello2: By this time the Plough was approaching averted vision:eek:
