Tal 2X or Tal 3x?

Recommended Posts

I've decided that all i want this year for my birthday is a TAL barlow. I used to have a 2X but sold it (when supplies were short).

I regret that. Now i have a 200mm SCT i feel like i can ramp up the magnification and go for a Tal 3X.

Would this work with the Celestron 8SE?

My 2x Revelation barlow is a bit of a dud..............i'm not happy with it.

My EP collection ranges from 6mm Celestron Omni to 30mm Vixen NPL.

Do i really even need to buy another Tal?

My main "planetary" EP is a Vixen 8mm NPL. Gives great views but i cant help but think that a nice Tal barlow (2x Or 3x) would be a good choice.

All comments welcomed.

Sounds to me like 8mm or 6mm is already giving you as much magnification as you can use... Unless you want to get into planetary imaging, I can't see what EP you would usefully attach to the barlow. Might make more sense to save up for a 2" visual back if you don't have one?
