Jupiter in blue

Just been out setting the scope up for tonight. Venus and Jupiter were really bright. I quickly manually turned my scope to Jupiter, which was really clear to see. All four moons and several bands in the atmosphere, but most bizarre was seeing it with a blue sky background!

May I ask what EP you were using? I see 4 moons (spots) and 1 band. I am a newbie and viewing Jupiter for the 1st time. Venus appears to be dark on 1 side and a yellow hue on the other. Does this sound right?

I've been out too. Jupiter fairly good - the NEB seems very pale at the moment. Mars gave me some fleeting glimpses of detail, but I will try later if it stays clear.

Yeah, the NEB has faded a bit over the last 4-6 weeks. Fascinating and quite bizarre. I wonder if it will mirror the SEB fade of 18 months ago.
