A warm welcome to SGL....

So...which part of Oxfordshire is the "darkest" ??

The darkest bits seem to correspond exactly to where the local authority has deemed it unnecessary to provide any street lighting, or many other services you might in passing think would benefit a village community, and where the council taxes are, as to be fitting of this forum... Out of this world. Anyway I didn't mean to get all political about things, but that is where the darkest bits a situated IMHO.
