NexStar 4SE & DSLR imaging?

Hi all

Anyone done any prime focus AP using a NexStar 4SE and a DSLR, and if so were any half-decent images possible?

The results were pretty terrible, but it was still exciting to get my first taste of astrophotography.

It was hard to get a sub without significant star trails.

The backlash in the gears is bad so you've got to give it a minute to take up the slack when ever you re-position.

Watch out for the camera crashing into the base if you try to shoot anything overhead.

The f/13 focal ratio is just too slow for most deep sky targets with a 30 second exposure.

I've been doing some asro imaging with my new 4se and a Canon EOS DLSR. Also tried various converted webcams for imaging Saturn. A few images here...

Thanks for your feedback guys! Nice moon shot Mike : ) I recently got myself a bahtinov mask so once I get an opportunity (damed rain!) I'll try using a 350D with my 4SE to get a couple of moon images. Am still waiting to try out the SPC too...

Baz - just wondering how you got on with the 4SE. Has there been any break in the weather yet for you to try?

Hi, Just getting into the astrophotography and starting to get the hang of it with my 4se with prime focus being the easy route, as a tip i found using the orion steadypic a very good tool if you plan to use your EP's
