Weight limit ?

Hi everyone,

Looking into making the autoguiding mods to my dual axis motors for my eq3-2, but then stopped before buying anything when I thought about the extra weight of a skywatcher st80 on the mount, so the question is simple realy what will the eq3-2 carry comfortably? I know its as much about balance as load bearing, it is still on the original eq3-2 tripod.

I feel if you are going to give the autoguided EQ3-2 route a go, you really need to look into finderguiders to spare the weight on the mount.

Yes, I think with the EQ3-2 the question to ask is not "How much weight will it carry?" but more "Is there any way I can reduce it further?"

There may be a weight guide out there in cyber space, if there is i have never come across it, its also not so easy to find the weight of OTA's if somebody out there has the info, maybe a "Sticky" could be made up of as may OTA's and mounts as can be sourced..
