First Mars with the 14" in poor seeing

Unfortunately the seeing was not

It was looking excellent a few hours ago, I had my best view this apparition. Syrtis Major and the Northern Polar region both being very obvious on moments of steadier seeing.

Unfortunately I live in a light polluted city

But the scope and mount do fit into the car, and I do have a dark site in mind

Omega will be on my list for sure:)

Not a bad result but great to see you grappling with a big scope, which you'll tame in time. Seeing supposed to be good in SA of late but local seeing still unpredictable.

Skippy predicted great seeing, but it was ordinary, and a bit of gusty wind at times.

But they are only predictions based on general conditions. As you say, local influences can change all that.

I tend to go out at about 1am for a quick look, and quickly back to bed if it is rubbish

Every now and then I strike it lucky.

Looks like you guys are clouded out ATM??
