Stepping into the 21st century with a smart phone

Recommended Posts

Last week I ditched my £5 phone and signed up for a tiny tiny computer which doubles as a phone. :D

No great shakes there, as smart phones are ten a penny, but its new to me and costs the same to run as my pay-as-you-go phone over 12 months, so its a no brainer.

Now that I've got my new toy, firmly placed in the Android camp, what astronomy tools can I download onto it?

Sadly I can't find stelarium for it.

Cheers

I use:

Astro:

Google Sky Map - Nice - but a little bit basic

SkEye - Like Sky Map, but offers a bit more for the serious astronmer

Polar Finder - does what it says!

Astro Panel - Only just downloaded!

Moon Widget - Luna Phasers and Rise & Set Times

Non Astro Apps that are useful:

GPS Tools - Handy for grabbing location and cardinal points

Mini Diary - good for notes

Kindle - Good for reference material

Mini Flashlight - Good in the dark

Accu Weather - for spotting gaps in the clouds

There are loads of good and even more bad to choose from on Android Market!
