the children and I have been discussing the ISS this weekend, largely because it's been possible to see it several times in the last couple of days before they have to go to bed.

Presumably because it had been visible twice in quick succession on Saturday evening my (six year old) daughter asked my wife yesterday "How many times does the International Play Station go around the Earth each day?" She realised her error almost immediately, but from now on in this house at least, the ISS has a new name :D

Well, for a lot of us down here, it is a play station:D Don't we all get our kicks out of watching it pass by?

By the way, if anyone out there has a "scanner" radio or one that can tune the ham 2m band, you can hear crew members talking to hams on the ground as it passes over your location. I did this a year ago and being "welcomed aboard" was such a thrill as I got to talk briefly to an american crew member with my 2m ham radio. If anyone wants to try listening to it as it passes overhead, listen to these frequencies:ISS Frequencies | ISS Fan Club
