Stacking software compatible with CR2 files?

Hi

I'm having the usual trouble with DSS and CR2 files from my new canon 600D. I am batch converting them to TIF files to use with DSS at the moment which is a pain!

My question is, are there any other stacking program's to use compatible with canon 600D CR2 files? And preferably free.

Thanks for any guidance, I have only ever used DSS and upto now have had good results with it.

Hi Paul, think you will need to use the 3.3.3 beta (45 at the mo) available from the yahoo page (near the bottom) DeepSkyStacker : DeepSkyStacker

not sure when the next release of dss that copes with the new CR2 format will be available.

If it doesn't im sure it will be supported soon, it has taken me ages today to convert my files

It's nothing to do with CR2 files, all Canons I know of shoot CR2 : there are different versions though.

Newer cameras use a slightly newer version of CR2. As mentioned above, for the 1100D (for example) the beta (newest) version of DSS is required.

My 450D (also outputs CR2) but works fine with the standard DSS.
