Stacking Barlows

Hi all.

I have a 5x Antaries barlow and a 2x unbranded thing.

When I image Mars with the phillips 900 it is still quite small even when using the 5x barlow.

Do you think I could get away with stacking the 2 barlows together to increase the image size or do you think it would be too much for my 8 inch newt to handle.

What about just using an extension tube with the 5x.

your thoughts please ??

Graham, You can stack them, but it becomes silly hard to use, the tube is probably the best way to go (between the barlow and camera).

As John says an extension tube would be better. If you can unscrew the lens off the "unbranded thing" then you have an extension tube. The less lenses used the better.

Are there any formulars for working out the magnifacation to tube length.
