Celestron Astromaster 130eq/90eq question.

Hello all, recently my fiancee got me a 130eq for Christmas, in the manual it describes it having 650mm Focal Length, however the 90eq has 1000mm focal length, but it says the highest useful magnification is higher for the 130eq than the 90eq? is this because the aperture is bigger? And gathers more light therefore has more resolution or what?

The maximum practical magnification of a telescope is dictated by its aperture. A rough guide to the practical maximum magnification is 2 x aperture (mm) or 50 x aperture (inches).
