Solar film cell

Hello everyone,

Can someone share me information how to do (how did you do personally) easy solar cell from "Baader astrosolar safety film"?

Here's some images to took during the build of a Baader Solar film cell for a C5.

The two rings were made from 30mm wide strips of white card, glued and wrapped. The film is just placed over the inside ring, held at the edges with tape and then the outer ring slipped over and glued.

Worked very well...

Or just buy one pre made, then you have a good holder for it if it is a full aperture filter you want.

Masking tape is great for keeping it on the scope too

Having just this afternoon made a solar filter in the style of Merlin66's above I can confirm that it is very easy to make if you follow the instructions on the film wrapper and use some common sense.

I'm slightly embarassed at how Blue Peter-ish my attempt looks in comparison so I'm not posting any pics!

It works nicely though, so that's the important bit.

Maybe I'll tidy it up, paint it a nice colour and then post some pics...
