Anyway, what sort of collimation thing do I need, and who makes a good map for the northern hemisphere?

I'd recommend a cheshire eye pice for collimation and Turn Left at Orion as a starter guide to the stars.

A Cheshire and down load Stellarium its free, find out if the do a stroud for that scope to cover the gap between the top and bottom and look at getting a DIY dew shield to keep the secondary mirror dew free.....

Again go for a Cheshire collimator. Some good astronomy books, stellarium or sky-safari, or both. Hundreds of hours of Internet research, learn the night sky (free) Star maps are available all over the web. And the most important thing, join SGL which you have done. Good luck with your new scope.
