EQ3 worth re-greasing?

As I have now an EQ3-2 mount, I'm debating dismantling the all mount to replace that nasty black sticky stuff with some proper grease.

Is it worth the effort? or will I be wasting my time....?

Also going to change the altitude bolts with some stainless steel ones.
