Focus question

If I focus on Jupiter will that mean even DSO objects are sharp or do you need to re-focus for further away objects? ie can I use a planet to set focus then not need worry unless I change EP?

As long as you use the same eyepiece, yes, your telescope will stay in focus.

I find with the moon and planets, the focus point is ever so slightly different to stars and other more distant objects. maybe it's just me imagining it though and trying to find the best focus position.

I don't think you're imagining it, I find the same Shane. If I focus on Jupiter then the moon is nice and sharp but I need to refocus just a little for stars etc.

Interesting one Shane and Rik. Some nights when imaging I go for a DSO and use a Bahtinov mask, then at the end I sometimes grab a few shots of the moon and the focus always seems a little bit out for the moon?! Is that to be expected?!

Yes. That's the same just with the targets in the reverse order. So that's three of use imagining the same thing
