NGC 1977 "Running Man"

Had an almost perfect night the other night, clear as and no wind. Squeezed in 22x 1.5 Minutes Seconds and 6x 3 Minute of NGC 1977 after work. Got it as centred as I could and cropped it, there is a little coma in the corners (Saving for a corrector!) Pretty happy with the focus also, had trouble fine tuning it in the past, but made a motorised focuser out of an old stepper motor, which has helped alot.

I rarely see this object imaged without M42 in the frame but this shows that it really is a great object on its own. Great image well done.

Might give this a go myself at some point as my last M42 shot couldnt quite get it in frame.

Really nicely processed there! I think the focus looks good, though I don't know where the extra diffraction spike has come from? (maybe a reflection?).

An often overlooked nebula with Orion usually taking center stage but I think you've really done the running man justice :icon_salut:

Clear skies,

Matt.

Good to see this one on its own as it deserves more attention than it gets. Took me a while to realise which was the correct orientation to see the Running Man as arguably (but let's not argue!) it can be seen in two totally different orientations!

Thanks guys, not sure where the extra diffraction spike come from, most of my images have that extra one?? I was going to shoot M42 last night, but I cant fit the whole thing in the frame.

Thanks for the good feedback!
